PEA GRAVEL & A PICKET FENCE

Last year we diyed some raised beds and enjoyed our first year of being gardeners. We always planned on eventually adding pea gravel, but the fence was a decision that came after our dogs kept laying on my flowers and stealing my cucumbers off of the vine. At first I was annoyed at the added / unplanned cost, but wow - I’m actually grateful to our crazy animals because the fence added so much. The garden feels bigger, intentional and my Practical Magic loving heart feels one step closer to my dream home.

The fence also allowed for space to create some great border landscaping. The goal was herbaceous, cottage, whimsical and it’s not exactly there yet in a few years it’s going to be magical.

We planted roses, lavender, catmint, sedum, foxgloves, deliphium, yarrow, several types of hummingbird mint, baptiste and more.

In the raised beds we focused on the things we really enjoyed growing last year vegtable wise and I branched out and tried some new flowers. Lots of tomatoes (too many), cucumbers, basil, marigolds, zinnias, sunflowers, cosmos, potatoes, radishes, peppers, dahlias, amaranth, queen anne’s lace, green beans, bells of ireland, mignotte, catchfly, silene and orach.
